Attitudes And Conferences!

This week was another good week in Pauba!

Lessons were pretty slow this week unfortunately. We have been having trouble getting in touch with our investigator C, and in result his son J, the last couple of weeks, but then yesterday he finally texted us back saying that he had recently gotten out of surgery and was doing good! So we are planning on meeting up with him again this week! And then S we were able to talk to this week, but we weren't able to meet with her because she has been ill all week with the flu. So that is pretty sad, but she says that she is starting to feel better, and we are planning on meeting with her this week as well!

Other than the lack of lessons though, this week was pretty fun!

We had a zone training meeting this week where finding ideas, teaching shorter and more powerful lessons, and having a good attitude were talked about. I really enjoyed the part about having a good attitude because it really is true, if you have a bad or negative attitude you are much more likely to have a bad/negative day, whereas if you have a good or positive attitude then your day is likely to be pretty good. One Elder in the zone said something that I really liked so I wrote it down. He said, "We're too blessed to be stressed, and to anointed to be disappointed." And another Elder said, "I want to leave my comfort zone with a smile on my face." Which I can relate too because talking to random people on the streets pushes me out of my comfort zone a bit.

Got to go on exchanges with Elder English this week, and that was really fun. We ended up walking around most of the day talking to people because no one we tried to stop by was home, but it was still really fun just walking around talking with each other!

And the last thing that really happened this week was we had Stake Conference. It was really good! Our Stake President, President Hamm, gave a really good talk about sustaining the prophet, and talked about his thoughts of presidents of the church since he has been alive. And then his first counselor gave a great talk about how we can be thinking we are doing the right thing but really not using the officer from Les Miserables whose name I forget as an analogy. Three YSA members, and a member of the temple presidency and his wife gave really good talks about missions, temple work, eternal marriage, and lots of other good things. Then the final speaker was Elder Acosta, an area seventy over this area, who talked about how nothing is as good as God, and how we should try to emulate His son Jesus Christ, and work on building our relationships with them. It was a really good conference!

Finally, in way of spiritual thought. A couple good verses from the Book of Proverbs about attitudes, "A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. (15:13)" and, "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. (17:22)" And really, that is one thing that I truly believe in. If you have a good attitude and try to be optimistic then you are bound to be happier!

Love,

Elder Wixom
